Philippians 4:19
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

God knows your every need and want. In fact, He knows your needs better than you do. When you think you know what’s best, remember what Scripture says: His ways are above your ways, and His thoughts above your thoughts. Remember that the Creator of the universe loves you, and He sees every aspect of your life; even the ones you don’t know about yet. Whether food, clothing, money or relationships, the Lord is faithful, and will supply your needs according to His will. All He asks is your trust and obedience.

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”

If the apostle Paul wasn’t being stoned and thrown out of cities, he oftentimes wound up chained in a prison cell. But through it all, because of his trust in the almighty God, Paul learned to be content in every situation. Whether you live in plenty or in want of something, the Lord is always faithful. Trust in Him; He knows your needs, and He knows your wants. He will open some doors and close others, but no matter what, He will always be by your side, and that is reason enough to be joyful.

“To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am.”

There’s such a pressure in our culture to be in a relationship, whether from family, friends or even social media. For many, it seems like the whole world is waiting for you to find that “special someone.” But Paul continues to speak to the unmarried, encouraging them to remain as they are. There’s nothing wrong with marriage; God created it after all. But a lifelong commitment is serious, and those who aren’t yet committed shouldn’t be ashamed to wait and see what God has in store for them.

1 Corinthians 7:32-33
”I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife.”

In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul directly addresses those who are single, both men and women. To live without anxiety is a blessing, and he reminds them that, for married individuals, there are often more anxieties to think about. For a husband and wife, each have a responsibility to carry the joys and burdens of the other. If you are unmarried, enjoy the freedom God has allowed you, and let yourself be used by Him in ways that are only possible in this phase of life. The Lord will open doors for you with His perfect timing, but for now, use the time He has given you to the fullest.

”But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

It can be strange to think about, but you and I aren’t meant for this world. We’re just passing through, but despite this, we forget that earth isn’t our home, and become worried about making our time here perfect. But when you set your heart on God and remember that His kingdom awaits, you can live in a way that matters. Don’t be concerned with what you do or don’t have in this life; seek first the kingdom of God. Your time in earth is a breath compared to eternity, and the treasures you store up there will last forever.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

It’s human nature to be fearful of failure; to worry that you aren’t strong enough or well-equipped enough to complete the tasks at hand. It’s natural to feel this way because you aren’t infallible, and on your own, your bound to fall short. Thankfully, you aren’t on your own, and you serve a God who is infallible. If you are doing everything you do for the Lord, following Christ’s footsteps and obeying God wherever He calls you, He will carry it all to completion. Even what we perceive as shortcomings can be used by the Father for incredible things. What’s important is that you trust Him.
