Acts 20:28
Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

“Tend my sheep.” That simple commandment was one that Jesus gave to Peter after He rose back to life. A church was beginning, paid for by the blood of Christ, and the gospel would soon be spreading all over the world. It was up to Jesus’ disciples, and now you and me, to tend and care for the body of believers we find ourselves in. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and good families invest in each other. The moment you accepted Jesus as your Savior, you became part of the body of Christ, and if you take the time to care for the church, it will care for you.

Romans 11:36
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

All of Creation glorifies God. The complexity of nature, the thundering oceans, the innumerable stars out in space, and the beauty of life and love. The Creator of the universe made it all for His glory, and for His enjoyment. He cherishes what He has made, and most of all, He loves you. Sin and death have corrupted God’s perfect creation, but because of the debt Christ paid when He was killed on a cross, you have been saved. It can’t be said enough: Our God is an awesome God, and to Him be all the glory, honor and praise, forever and ever.

Ephesians 1:11
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.

Salvation from your sins and an eternity in heaven is the inheritance the Lord has given you. To all who receive Him and accept His grace, He gives the right to be called children of God. If you have been born again, your story can only end one way: in eternal paradise with the God who loves you more than anything. And while you’re here on earth, you can watch how He works everything together to create a story (and an ending) that’s more beautiful than anything you or I could have written. God’s will is perfect, and so is His plan; so with the guarantee of a happy ending in mind, allow Him to use your life to it’s fullest.

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

It’s impossible to ignore the reality that the world is full of evil. Tragic and terrible things happen every day, but what the Enemy uses for evil, God turns into good. There is no calamity, no injustice, and no tragedy that the Lord can’t transform into something beautiful, because when evil digs a pit, it’s God who makes a well. The darkest and most confusing times are often when God chooses to do big things, and for those who love Him and have answered His call, all things work together for good.

Proverbs 16:9
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Throughout the bible we are shown that the Lord’s ways are above our ways, and His thoughts above our thoughts. From a human perspective you make your decisions in the present, building plans for the future that you hope to achieve. You only see the here and now, but God see’s everything. He knows what tomorrow brings, and He has incorporated each and every moment of it into His will. You might make plans for your life and take bold strides forward, but the Lord establishes your steps, and only through Him will you find success.

Psalm 139:16
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

God knew all the days you would live before you were even born! He wrote each one of them for you before you had even breathed your first breath. Since the beginning, the Creator has been telling a grand story through the universe He has made. You and I are a part of that story, and if you let God be the author of your life, there’s no telling what kind of story He could weave together. One day, when this life is over and we are with Him in heaven, we’ll be able to look back on the good times, the bad times, and everything in between, and see how God was able to use all of it for His purpose.
