Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

This is Christ’s greatest commandment to us, which he gave to the disciples before ascending into heaven. Rescuing others with the message of salvation is the most meaningful thing you can do with your life, because that will last not only for this lifetime, but for eternity. Always be ready to follow the calling of the Lord, whether that means sharing the gospel with a stranger at the grocery store, or with a close friend who is lost. It’s not always easy, but the Lord promises that He will be with you always. Don’t be timid; it’s your job to obey God and share the message of hope, but when all is said and done, it’s Christ who saves souls.

Colossians 3:23-24
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men…”

We all have things that motivate us and get us out of bed in the morning… some more than others. But for a believer, bought and paid for by Jesus, we know that what we do with our lives has great purpose. God is working through each of us, even when we don’t realize it. So, whatever you do, do it heartily, and dedicate your work to God. If your unintentional actions can be used by God to impact lives, imagine what He could do if you acted with purpose.

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Have you ever completed something that you were proud of? Imagine the pride of an author who has just finished a masterpiece that he wants the whole world to read. Your Father in heaven feels the same pride toward you, His creation. Flawed and sinful though you may be, God loves you completely, and as He was making you, He prepared you to serve Him. You are his workmanship, created and renewed in Christ for good works; so what will you do for Him today?

Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

You have been intimately known and loved by God since before you were born. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, before you were even thought of, the Lord knew your name. Not only that, but he knew the story of your life, even the parts that you haven’t experienced yet. The Lord has a plan for each of us; plans that, even if you don’t get to see or understand them in this lifetime, are so infinitely beautiful from the perspective of eternity. Don’t be afraid of the life God has in store for you; you have been appointed to do great things for Him, if you will just follow where He leads.

Psalm 19:14
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

In what you say and how you act, you are setting an example of what you believe in for the rest of the world. To the unbeliever, then, you represent the gospel. If you have been born again and made into a new creation by the blood of Christ, let the words you speak reflect that. In Psalms, David prays that not only his speech, but also his heart would be honorable, and acceptable in the sight of God. In a time in history where our words can reach more people than ever before, let this also be your prayer.

Ephesians 4:29
“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

Hopefully more than one person in your life has encouraged you and said something that built you up. Sadly, on the contrary, you’ve probably been discouraged once or twice as well. If this is true, then you know the influence that the words of others can have on your confidence and character. God tells us in His word to let nothing corrupting come from our mouths, but instead to be an encouragement to the people around us. Discouragement erodes relationships and brings others down, but by building others up, you give grace to those who hear you.
