Matthew 7:7
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Your life is in the hands of a God who loves you like a child, infinitely more than you or I can possibly imagine. He invites us to come to Him with anything, and the Word promises that if we pray, God will hear us, and He will answer. His answer may not be what you expected, but that’s the best part. The Lord is writing a story with your life, and who do you think knows how to write the best story: the characters, or the Author? The scriptures urge you to pray faithfully, and ask for anything, because your Father will hear you. All that’s left is for you to trust His answers.

1 Corinthians 12:13
“For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”

For most of history, it was understood by God’s people that they were the only ones worthy of Heaven… but Jesus changed all that. It didn’t matter whether they were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free; He died to save everyone, no matter who they were or what they had done. The same is true today, as the Holy Spirit unites believers of all kinds. Rejoice that the body of Christ is one where anyone is welcome, and remember, that the Lord has commanded us to love our neighbors. For us to serve the Lord with our best, it’s important that the members of Christ’s body share in unity, obedience, and love.

Ephesians 5:1-2
“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children, and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

It’s important to recognize that we are setting an example to the rest of the world of what Christianity looks like. Sin will use every means necessary to corrupt and sour our walk with the Lord, especially if it turns other would-be believers away in the process. When one part of the body isn’t working properly, the entire body is affected by it, weakening it as a whole. It’s important that we stay strong in our faith, following the example of Jesus, and setting an example in the process.

Ephesians 4:16
“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Your body looks out for itself. When a part of it is damaged, all your systems work hard to make sure that bones heal, sickness is eradicated, and proper nutrition is supplied. As a believer, you are a part of the body of Christ, along with every other person whose sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus. It’s important that we are always building each other up in love, helping each other when difficulties arise, and banding together to do Christ’s work here on

earth. Each one of us has an important part to play in our church and our community, and with your help, we hold each other together.

Romans 12:4-5
“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

It’s not hard to start comparing yourself to others, judging your skills, ideals, and even your spiritual walk by what others are doing. You might feel like you’ve fallen short, but the bible assures us that not every member of the body of Christ serves the same function. Just as a body has eyes, hands and feet that each serve a different purpose, each of us have our own part to play in the body of Christ. Some will be great at public speaking, others will be gifted counsellors, and some will take the good news of the gospel across oceans. What you do isn’t important; what is important is that you are serving God in whatever capacity He has called you to.

1 Corinthians 12:27
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

Christians are the body of Christ here on earth. While Jesus may not be physically present, His grace, love, and the Holy Spirit are very much alive and active in believers like you and I. As part of the body, you’re on the winning team; one that “neither height nor depth, neither angels nor demons” can steal victory from. It’s a cause for rejoicing, but it’s important that we remember that we as Christ’s representatives have a job to do. The point of a body is to interact with the world, and if we aren’t actively serving the Lord in our communities, churches and countries, we’re like a foot that has fallen asleep.
