1 Peter 5:6
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.

No one likes when someone is a show-off… not even God. He’s the only one in existence that deserves unending praise, and everything else has been put in its place by Him. Even the angels, when they appeared to people, knew to redirect all the praise and worship to the Almighty. Remember, you’re a human being, sinful by nature and made from dust. Be humble, but don’t forget that you are also God’s child, and that in Christ, you are a new creation.

Isaiah 40:29
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.

When Jesus walked on this earth, He spent time with the lowly. The cripples, the lepers, the blind and sick; people who were seen as being “beyond repair” whether because of their physical condition, or because of their multitude of sins. But Christ looked past their weaknesses and shortcomings. Many of them He healed, and we remember to this day how power was given to the faint. Jesus may not be walking the earth today, but the Word still holds true: He will provide your strength when you have no strength of your own, if you put your faith in Him.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

There’s nothing that you can’t do with Christ by your side. He will comfort you, equip you, and guide you as you serve Him with your life. History is full of people who obeyed God faithfully, and when they did, He helped them accomplish things that they could have never imagined doing on their own. You can do all things through Christ… because, in reality, you can’t do anything without Him. Every breath in your lungs comes from the Lord, and if you allow Him to strengthen and steer you, there are no limits to what you can accomplish in His name.

2 Corinthians 12:10
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

As a Christian in a sinful world, expect hardships and persecution in your life. But be content in all circumstances; this earth is not your home! If you’ve accepted Christ’s payment for your sins, your destination is Heaven. Anything that happens here is just a stone in the road, and if you persevere and obey God even when it’s hard, He will bless you… whether that’s in this life, or the next. Through weakness, hardships and calamities, your strength will be your devotion to Christ.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

You are finite, but your God is infinite. There is nothing that He can’t equip you for, and your weakness gives Him more opportunity to demonstrate His goodness. Many times in the Bible, God chose people who seemed the least equipped to do the greatest things. Moses struggled with speaking, David was the smallest in his family, and an angel found Gideon hiding in a well. What makes the heroes of the Bible stand out isn’t their natural talent; instead, it’s their trust in God, even when they don’t feel that they can trust themselves. God’s power is made perfect in your weakness, and if you obey Him and remain humble, He will use you for amazing things.

Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

It’s long been believed that anxiety and sadness wear down the body, and science continues to prove that it’s true. God created people to live in harmony with Him, not to be heartbroken and stressed. If you allow yourself to be anxious about the things you can’t control, you could spend the rest of your life worrying. But God is good, and He sees every circumstance in your life; He has promised never to leave you or forsake you, and if God is for you, who can be against you? Anxiety will always weigh you down, but the Word of the Lord makes the heart glad.
