Proverbs 21:31
The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.

Everything belongs to God, including you and your victories. We should never become so confident in ourselves that we forget to give credit to God, who puts breath in our lungs. You can do all things through Christ, but without Christ you can do nothing. Every day He will equip you for the things He wants you to do, but it’s on you to obey God and be a part of His story. Sit down, pray, and earnestly consider where the Lord is calling you. When we pursue earthly things, we win earthly prizes, but in fighting battles for God, you will find victory.

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The peace that can be found in a believer doesn’t make sense to the rest of the world. It doesn’t make sense because its source is beyond our understanding. Giving the Lord the keys to your life with all your desires, goals and passions can be scary. But God is infinitely more capable than you are, and there’s a supernatural peace in knowing that your life is in His hands. Our hearts and minds are always under attack by the grief, anger, sadness, and bitterness we see on a daily basis… but if you’ve surrendered your life and all its cares to Christ, He will guard you with a peace that passes all understanding.

Psalm 4:8
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Whatever it is you fear, know that God is bigger and stronger, and that everything is subservient to Him. Nothing can happen or exist without God’s permission. The things that threaten you are not out of His reach, nor can they pull you out of His arms. Do you really think that there’s anything God can’t protect you from? Pray, and He will hear you; trust in Him, and He will give you peace as you lie down and sleep. He alone is in charge, and He alone is the reason you can dwell in safety, because nowhere is safer than in His hand.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Is there any greater reason to be at peace than knowing that the God who created the entire universe loves you unconditionally? To say that there is anything that could take God’s love away from you would be to imply that there is something stronger than God’s love. But we know that the love of the Lord is unending, and His mercies are made new every morning. God is love, and it was love that held Christ on the cross. He died to set us free, and you can find peace knowing that no sin, no hardship, and no evil can separate you from Christ.

Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.

You’ve heard the phrase “the only thing to fear is fear itself,” and while that never feels true, it often is. We spend a lot of time worrying about worldly things that don’t matter, and I can only imagine that God feels like rolling His eyes at us from time to time. Everyone feels afraid sometimes… after all, the Bible wouldn’t talk about fear so often if it wasn’t a natural part of life. However, fear of this world shouldn’t become a snare that keeps you from obeying God and taking leaps of faith. Whoever trusts in the Lord is safe and provided for, until the day the Father calls them home.

Psalm 118:6
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

God never loses; failure isn’t a part of His nature, as it is with us. Something that the “heroes of faith” throughout the Bible seemed to understand is that they were, in a way, invincible. They could fail, but God couldn’t be stopped, and nothing happened that He didn’t allow to happen by His own authority. Even when they were persecuted and killed for their faith, Jesus’ disciples had peace, and were joyfully prepared for what awaited them in eternity. You may be made of dust, but God’s power is infinite, and with Him on your side, what is there to worry about? From the perspective of eternity, we have already won in Christ.
