The apostle Paul wrote that the truth of Christ’s return will be questioned as time goes on.
II Peter 3:3 [Peter wrote] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. (KJV)
Jesus Himself promised the disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them, and would, in fact, come back and take them there! When Christ did not return when people expected . . . they began to mock. In fact, such mockery is a symptom of the days before Christ’s return.
After all, if you want nothing to do with Christ and His claims on your life — it’s easy to act as if there never was a promise to return! The return of Christ is a warning to humanity that a clock is ticking for them to accept Christ’s free gift of forgiveness of sin. Bible-teacher David Jeremiah says nothing has to happen before Christ comes back for His followers. It could happen today!!
