The apostle Paul writes of the spiritual vitality that results from taking in God’s truth.

Colossians 2:7 . . . having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. (NASB)

Having accepted Christ’s death on the cross as payment for your sins and becoming a child of God . . . you are to grow in your faith!  But how do you grow?  Here, the apostle Paul uses a metaphor of plants and says sink your roots deep into God’s truth as found in the Bible.

When you became a Christ-follower you were made part of Him.  Now it’s time to grow deeper in the knowledge of His truth by which you “bulk up” in your spiritual strength!  The result is a strong “root system” not easily subject to harsh temperatures or drought.  Finally, as you feel your spiritual stamina increasing — don’t forget to thank the One who made it possible!
