The apostle Matthew records Jesus’ call for His followers to promote and support the values of the Bible.
Matthew 5:15 Nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. (NASB)
At the 1993 Promise Keeper Conference in Boulder, Colorado, 50,000 men were given candles as they entered Folsom Field. At the end of the conference, Promise Keeper Founder Bill McCartney lit his candle and then lit the candle of the man next to him. Soon all 50,000 candles were lit! One candle would scarcely have been noticed; 50,000 candles remains a stirring image of men united to change their world for Christ!!
Today, you live in a world where Christ-followers are in retreat. What will the outcome be if Christ-followers take the ‘salt and light” of God’s influence out of the culture? A societal deterioration! The same is true of areas such as: media, politics, public education, etc. Christ-followers are to represent God’s values in history. Is your light shining??
