Moses records how God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt.

Exodus 3:9-10 [Then the Lord said] “Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” (NLT)

The call of Moses is one of the most significant in the Old Testament. Moses’ obedience resulted in the Exodus and Joshua leading Israel to the Promised Land of Canaan. Ever wonder why God waited 80 years to call Moses?

The most logical time for Moses to lead his people would have been when he was living in Pharaoh’s household – a prince of Egypt!  When Moses fled Egypt, after killing an Egyptian, he was 40 – now he was a sheep-herder.  The fact is Moses was not ready to lead Israel at the age of 40, but he was at the age of 80!
