The apostle Paul describes the characteristics of a follower of Christ.

Colossians 3:12 Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (NLT)

Your goal as a Christ-follower is to imitate Christ. When you are around others do they sense Heaven? It’s easy to live for self, living according to the beck and call of the Evil One – now as a child of the King, you must act accordingly.

“Clothe yourselves”, the picture brings to mind a routine at the start of the day: before you step out the door get your focus clearly on Christ!   Be intentional by being compassionate with the weaknesses of others; translate that compassion into actions by being kind; humbly regard others as better than yourself; let your strength be of a gentle sort that does not need to be on display; finally patiently restrain yourself from becoming upset with someone who makes your life difficult!
