Camp Courage
Camp Courage is being held Friday, May 3-Sunday, May 5 at Camp Lavigne of Benton, PA. Camp courage is for campers ages 6-18 who have lost someone close to them and dealing with grief. For further information call 570-204-3746.
Camp Courage: When children or teenagers and their families lose someone close to them, they need help dealing with grief. Camp Courage helps them grieve in a safe, nurturing environment. Campers between ages 6 and 18 come together with other children and teenagers who’ve had similar losses to learn new ways to deal with grief. The camp is free and offers many fun activities. Every Camp Courage camper is paired with a “Big Buddy” for the weekend. The Big Buddy is there for the camper if they want to talk, provides careful supervision and guarantees the camper has a friend at every activity. The campers learn ways to express their grief through journaling, music, physical activity, creating memory boxes and other guided activities. Free time gives campers and their Big Buddies a chance to explore activities including archery, rock wall climbing, zip lining, fishing, paddle boating, visits with therapy dogs, games and sports. Campers and especially Volunteer Buddies are needed. Help a child when it hurts the most, the loss of a loved one. Refer a camper and please consider volunteering. It’s a great weekend!
