The apostle Paul passes on God’s promise that because of accepting the gift of His Son’s death on the cross – we are freed from sin’s death sentence.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.  (NKJV)

God poured out all of His wrath for your sins and mine upon His only Son. The moment you said “yes” to that sacrifice, God credited your life with the perfect righteousness of His Son!   “Now”, when God thinks of you, He sees a life wiped free of sin and there is no condemnation. The word “condemnation” involves a sentence and a punishment. Because you are “in Christ Jesus” that all has gone away! Hallelujah!

Satan takes every opportunity to replay past failures seeking to paralyze you as a Christ-follower; attempting to cover you over with false guilt. The guilt is false, because all of the wrath and judgment reserved for your sin has already been poured out on God’s Son! He took your place. He took your pain. Singer/songwriter Josh Wilson captured this in his song “No More”. He said it’s like being in a prison cell with the door wide open. I am freed from sin’s guilt and death sentence! (I received a blessing when I watched the video of this song on YouTube.)
