Moses records a priestly blessing that reflects the loving heart of God.

Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace. (NASB)

It’s such a freeing notion to realize:  God’s not mad at you.  Yet, for some, the image they have grown up with is . . .  a stern-looking deity, one foot tapping irritably, with a two-by-four in His hand ready to BOP you with!  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Scripture provides clues as to the real identity of God.  For example, He created a beautiful garden for mankind to live in.  (Genesis 2:8); He has mapped out a lifetime of good works, custom-created, for each of His followers. (Ephesians 2:10); He thinks about you many times a day.  (Psalm 139:13-18); He knows the plans He has for you . . . plans to do good and not evil.  (Jeremiah 29:11).  For the obedient, trusting, seeking Christ-follower, this eloquent blessing sums up the truth you can never out-give God.  As you respond to His leading . . . He abundantly blesses!
