Governor Tom Wolf signed an executive order for the second time– increasing the living wage to $12 an hour for state workers, starting Sunday.
He also ordered an annual boost of 50 cents an hour until it reaches $15 an hour in 2024.
Wolf raised the minimum wage to $10.15 in 2016.
The governor’s term ends in January, and the next governor could reverse the order.
Wolf is seeking a second term against Republican Scott Wagner in November’s election.
Wage earners in Pennsylvania not employed by the commonwealth are still subject to the starting wage of $7.25 an hour, the federal minimum wage.
