The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission estimates 5.8 million fourth of July travelers will use its roadway system, and the Fridays before and after the holiday will be the busiest. That means today.
The turnpike expects 750,000 vehicles to travel its system on Friday, June 29th and 700,000 travelers on Friday, July 6th. Friday afternoons are likely to be peak travel times.
Nationwide, 47 million Americans plan to make a trip for the holiday.
AAA says that’s the highest overall travel volume for Independance Day since it started tracking statistics 18 years ago.
